Project
Block B-O mon gas project
Block B-O Mon gas project is located in Malay-Tho Chu basin, Southwest Vietnam, and comprises the development of a gas field and pipeline. The project was announced on 3 April 2016 and first production is expected in the second quarter of 2020.
Block B-O Mon gas project is located in Malay-Tho Chu basin, Southwest Vietnam, and comprises the development of a gas field and pipeline. The project was announced on 3 April 2016 and first production is expected in the second quarter of 2020. The project is planned to initiate gas production from Blocks B and 48/95 and Block 52/97 and to transfer it to the western part of the region to enhance the power capacity in excess of 4,000MW. Block B field development is estimated to account for $6.8bn of the approximately $10bn project.
Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) acquired the complete ownership of the Block B, Block 48/95 and Block 52/97 projects from Chevron in June 2015 and became the operator after the two companies failed to reach a consensus on gas prices.
Vinh Tan 4 expansion thermal power plant
The project includes one unit in configuration of 01 boiler + 01 turbines + 01 generator. Technology applied in the project is supper critical steam parameters, which is widely applied worldwide.
Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Expansion Plant will utilize existing infrastructures such as plan, port, grid connection, transportation etc., especially common systems shared with Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant under construction.
The project includes one unit in configuration of 01 boiler + 01 turbines + 01 generator. Technology applied in the project is supper critical steam parameters, which is widely applied worldwide. This method is the state-of-the-art with high capacity and efficiency, which accompanies with reasonable cost and meets strict Vietnamese criteria for environmental protection.
After its operation the project will increase power supply capacity for socio-economic development of the Southern region and Southern part of Central region; reduce grid dependency to hydropower source, especially in dry seasons and dry years; reduce amount of power dispatched from the North to the South; reduce power losses; and increase safety, stability, and economics of grid operation.
